Indian Head Massage

What are the benefits of Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a deeply relaxing holistic therapy that focuses on the head, neck, shoulders, upper back, and scalp. The treatment is designed to release tension, improve circulation, and calm the nervous system.

Benefits of Indian Head Massage may include reduced stress and anxiety, relief from headaches and neck tension, improved sleep, increased mental clarity, and a general sense of relaxation and wellbeing. The treatment can also help to ease muscular tightness caused by posture, screen use, or everyday stress.

At House of Leyla in Gravesend, Indian Head Massage takes place in a peaceful treatment room and can be enjoyed as a standalone session or combined with other holistic therapies or yoga practices for a more restorative experience.

What happens during an Indian Head Massage session?

Indian Head Massage is traditionally performed with the client seated comfortably in a chair, rather than lying on a treatment bed. This seated position allows the therapist to work deeply into the head, neck, shoulders, upper back, and scalp while keeping the body supported and upright.

Sitting in a chair can feel especially grounding and accessible, and many people find it easier to fully relax without needing to lie down or undress. The upright position also supports better access to areas where tension commonly builds from daily life, posture, and screen use.

At House of Leyla, Indian Head Massage is offered as a calming yet energising treatment that honours its traditional roots while creating a safe, comfortable, and nurturing experience for each client.

If you have any concerns about comfort or positioning, this can always be discussed before your session.
